Delays and Departures: Finding Sacred Stillness in the Chaos

There’s something poetic about beginnings—how they rarely end up looking the way that we imagined.

December 27th 2024

It's time to move the fuck on.
It's time to move the fuck on.

It’s 1:30 PM, and I am sitting at the Palm Beach International airport right now, my flight delayed for what feels like forever. Around me, the ebb and flow of people rushing to their destinations creates a kind of choreography. Suitcases roll by, announcements echo overhead, and the holding space vibrates with a strange combination of impatience and anticipation—duality at its finest.

I’m leaving Florida today, headed to New York to spend about 36 hours with my family before taking off to Mumbai on Sunday. From there, I’ll embark on a 3.5-month-long adventure across India and Bali—a journey that feels like the culmination of years of dreaming and planning. It feels surreal to be on the cusp of such a significant chapter and to start this blog—a dream I’ve carried with me for years—right here in the midst of a delayed departure. It’s as though life itself is reminding me that every journey unfolds on its own timeline.

Delays force us into a stillness we don’t always ask for. They strip away our sense of control and ask us to sit with discomfort, to let go of the “plan.” And yet, there’s something sacred in this stillness. Something that whispers: Be here now. Witness this moment as it is.

This blog, Kali's Kompass, is my sacred space—a digital journal mapping my journey through the threads of life. It’s a collection of words, stories, travels, yoga practice, style, and the moments that have both broken and remade me. It reflects who I am today: someone who feels deeply, loves nature, craves adventure, and believes in the transformative power of presence.

Sitting here now, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for this delay. It’s given me time to pause, to breathe, and to reflect. Isn’t that what life asks of us in the most unexpected moments? To slow down, to trust the timing, to find beauty even in the waiting room?

As I begin this journey—both the one that will eventually take flight in the air and the one here on this blog—I invite you to join me. Together, we’ll explore the sacred and the mundane, the joy and the heartbreak, the beauty of beginnings (even when they don’t go as planned).

Here’s to the journeys that unfold in their own time and to finding sacred stillness in the chaos. Thank you for being here. Let’s see where this path leads.

With love and gratitude,

Eve aka Kali Grayce
